The Scimitar MK VIIIB has been updated to combat the latest threats and incorporates the very latest technology to produce a small lightweight unit. It is in use with special operations groups throughout the world.
The Mk VIIIB is available in two versions:-
Vehicle and Portable
The VP has the addition of a large capacity NiMh internal rechargeable battery, enabling the unit to be used in a multi roll situation for force protection as well as for local EOD use. It is able to run at full power on its own internal battery, which is kept charged whilst the unit is installed in a vehicle. Should the need arise the unit can be used as a portable system.
The V version is for pure vehicle installation or as a fixed building installation and just like the VP version gives full cover of most threat frequencies discovered to date.
Ideally suited as a VIP or Force protection unit for use in convoys both units are equipped with digital and analogue signal systems so that protection is effected from the older technologies that are still a very real threat and also the latest digital GSM/GPRS/3G/SatCom threats that are becoming more common.
